The 2 week window is important in posed newborn photography and if you want to achieve those adorable and curled up poses in props or on beautiful backdrops. The key is a full, content and sleepy baby and newborns tend to sleep 16-18 hours a day in their earliest days! They are easier to pose, less touchy, their skin is nicer and the colic has not begun yet.
In case you missed this window there is no reason why you cannot have your baby's newborn photo shoot up to around 3 or 4 weeks old and I sometimes book babies even older than that, 8 or 9 weeks however you should be aware that babies at this age often suffer from tummy pains, have baby rash on their face, are more alert and will sleep shorter which may affect the variety of poses and posing itself, the baby may need to be wrapped more than not.
